We never know until we take the first step

When people contact me, many are nervous because it will be their first class. I understand that putting ourselves in a new situation always gives us that feeling of butterflies in our stomach.

There is no need to be afraid. The classes are prepared to welcome both newer and more experienced students. Each person will only do what is within their healthy limits. New students sit at the back of the room so that they can observe those who have been practising for longer, ask questions if necessary and, also, so that they do not feel as though they are being watched.

Trying something new can give us that feeling of “nervous excitement”. But it is a good kind of nervousness, because it is a sign that we are moving, that we are living, searching and walking our path.

I am not afraid of movement. I am afraid of standing still! Of stopping the search, of no longer wanting to go further.

Sometimes, we do not know what we will find until we allow ourselves to try.

If, in our searching, we find what we were looking for, wonderful! If we discover that this is not the right path, we have still gained something: clarity to look for a new one.

Everything is better than the famous: “what if…”

We will never know until we take the first step.
