Benefits of Yoga

Our body is something extraordinary and fascinating, constantly surprising us with its ability to do things we might consider unimaginable. However, we are much more than our physical body. Within us lies a vastness and depth as complex as the cosmos to which we belong.

In Yoga, we do not work only with the physical body. We also work with the energetic, emotional and mental bodies. The benefits of the practice manifest on different levels:

— On a physical level: it acts on the muscles, tendons and ligaments and influences various systems of the organism, namely the nervous, endocrine/hormonal and circulatory systems, contributing to the health and balance of our organism as a whole;

— On an energetic level: the practice seeks to develop our ability to capture, conserve and use energy more efficiently, promoting vitality and balance;

— On an emotional level: it promotes emotional control, encouraging positive and creative emotional states;

— On a mental level: it helps to reduce mental dispersion and develop concentration, promoting mental clarity and serenity.

Yoga integrates these different dimensions of the Human Being into a practice that seeks to promote greater awareness, balance and self-knowledge. By getting to know ourselves and working on ourselves, we can develop our present and latent capacities more fully.

This is, probably, the great project of our lives: to go beyond the denser and progressively draw closer to the subtler — to our essence.
