About Āshrama Tavira
Some stories begin with a choice. Others begin with an encounter.
The story of Āshrama Tavira began with an encounter with Yoga and with the choice to make this Wisdom a path through life.
Since 2013, we have been walking this path in Tavira, preserving and sharing Yoga Sámkhya, the Traditional Yoga of India, through a living tradition of knowledge and transmission.
Our Story
2013 – The First Roots
Āshrama Tavira was born in Conceição de Tavira, where it found its first home.
It was here that we began, with the purpose of teaching and sharing Yoga Sámkhya, following the tradition of Traditional Yoga from India.
2015 – A New Home
Two years later, the time came for a change.
Āshrama found a new home on Rua dos Pelames, in the centre of Tavira. For several years, this was the place where many practices, learnings and encounters took place, creating many of the memories that are part of our story.
2025 – In the Heart of Tavira
In January 2025, we began a new chapter and moved to our current location, in the heart of Tavira.
A new home, but the same desire to continue teaching and living Yoga.
Hoje – A Tradition That Continues
Today, Āshrama Tavira continues to be a space dedicated to Yoga Sámkhya and Traditional Yoga from India, keeping alive a tradition of oral transmission, from Master to disciple, through direct transmission between teacher and student.
The story of Āshrama Tavira already has several chapters.
Since 2013, many years have passed, many students have arrived, many encounters have taken place, and some homes have been left behind.
Life has its cycles, and every change has brought a new stage.
The places have changed, experiences have grown, but what remains essential is the same: the desire to preserve and share Yoga Sámkhya, this ancient Wisdom that we have chosen to continue practising, studying and transmitting.
Āshrama
Āshrama is located in the heart of Tavira.
Because of its location, it is a place that invites quietness and introspection. The entire journey to our Yoga Centre represents a descent towards the inner self, towards essence.
Just as in the path of Yoga, the greatest treasures are not found on the surface. We must journey within.
So let each step you take towards us bring you a little closer to yourself.
Just as Tavira was once known as “the hidden city”, our Āshrama too rests quietly, holding an invitation to look within and discover the secrets that only Yoga can reveal.

Āshrama Tavira is a Yoga Centre in the heart of Tavira. A place dedicated to the ancient wisdom of Yoga Sámkhya, where each student is invited to take this inner journey — from the surface to what is essential, from the visible to the invisible, from the external to the profound.

Hoje – A Continuous Journey of Learning
Today, as Director of Āshrama Tavira – Yoga Centre, she continues to bring together the practice, study and teaching of Yoga.
Her mission is to share Yoga as a path of transformation of the human being, accessible to all, respecting each student’s individual pace while remaining faithful to the roots of this ancient Wisdom.
“The best thing that ever happened to me was finding Yoga. I hope to be able to carry it forward intact to all those who seek this Wisdom and, just as Yoga has helped me, that it may help many others to bring forth the best in themselves — for each one of us and for all of us, because we are small parts of a collective whole. The harmony of the whole depends on each one of us; everyone matters. We must build it within ourselves in order to contribute to the harmony around us, because we can only share what we have.”
